It's important to spend time in the studio.  Often, when between more compelling projects,  I practice.   My foundation is in creating to meet a need or to answer a "can I..." question.  However, I enjoy practice - the mindlessness of it - because it is only practice.  This drawing of a sensually arranged dry tulip tree leaf developed in the studio for three years - becoming what my practice activity.  I worked to represent the leaf in all its light and dark complexity to the best of my ability.
